| For those of you wondering, I have been an artist since my early years... Always overdoing the hand print turkeys in elementary. They were so heavy they kept falling off the walls... Most of my projects were met with praise - up to and including - one chicken sketch which was scandalously uncovered as a tracing :) but we're all allowed one mistake - right? My inspiration.. Sadie I took all of the art offered throughout school, and dabbled a bit in college. I participated in a few arts and craft shows, but never anything steady. In 2001, when my first son Jesse was born, I went back to school. I planned to get my teaching certificate and become an art teacher. What could be more fun, right? I'd get to be creative and spend my days surrounded by the wonder and magic of youth. Well, while school was a blast, work was not... I was spending more than enough time away from my new bundle in class and dreaded going off to work and leaving Jesse. That is when my husband, Troy, suggested that I sell some paintings on eBay. I thought, hey, why not? I can make a little spending money and be home with my baby! Needless to say, my "hobby" grew, and grew, and GREW! While I don't think I'll see the inside of a classroom anytime soon (as student or teacher) I am glad for the experience. Now I spend 40+ hours a week painting, sculpting, and working at the computer! BUT, I am still at home, and now I have Jesse, Nile and Gene to keep me company and help me create! I am incredibly proud to be able to say it's been a successful six years. I have paintings and sculptures all around the world, including two paintings and a sculpture in a Saint Bernard museum in Martigny, Switzerland! I never could have dreamed the response I have received from all of you! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart :) Amy |
